There Is Hope For The Desolate

Greetings once again I hope all is well with you & if not do not fear for there is always hope. As the year draws to an end, people generally begin to think about where they are going in life and reflect on their past achievements. My thought and message today relates to hope. The hope of which I speak is for those who may have given up or who feel broken with no way out. In my life I have faced many trials and tribulations but have found the word of God to be truly sound; it is living waters and heals, restores and breathes life to dry bones.

What do you do when you’ve hit rock bottom? In my last post I spoke briefly about my struggles with depression throughout my life, so believe me when I say I have been there and at certain points in my life have been so blinded and left so broken that hope seemed far away and out of sight; yes there are times when I have felt like I didn’t want to be alive literally. As you read my posts I will share with you all my trials and tribulation, but I take each day as it comes and today I will focus on hope for the hopeless.

A few years ago God taught me first hand what hope was & he still continues to increase my hope which in turn increases my faith and trust in Him. One thing people may not understand unless they have experienced it first hand, is how hard it can be for a person who is hurting emotionally to trust. Not only trust other people, but even trust themselves. Someone who is broken cannot see the wood for the trees. Their sense of self and worth is totally lost. Before someone hits rock bottom they have given up on the world and on themselves. Once someone has hit that point they do not even have the energy to get up a fight. I spent years hating myself and have had to learn to both love and value the person I am, and get to know the person God has created me to be, the beauty that lies beneath.

The Bible brings us to the knowledge that a man must set his sight on the things above and not upon the things of this world that are of a perishable nature. Everything you see today has an end. So much of the disappointment we suffer is because we set our sights and put our trust in the things of this world. I don’t know about you, but I am fed up with being let down.

Colossians 1:5

New International Version (NIV)

the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel

This scripture has minstered to me over and over again and when I find myself feeling down or giving up I go back and read this to gain encouragement. In this scripture we are shown that the faith & love we have springs from the hope that is stored in Heaven. The hope comes before the faith and love. When I said I had to learn to love myself (and still am) I meant it, but one cannot begin to love without hope. Hope in a future, hope for a change, whatever kind of hope, but the key point is hope. There is hope for the desolate and hope for the broken hearted and weary.

Let go of the world and place your hope in the things of Heaven. The feeling of brokenness is one of the biggest lies that can be sold. God has created us in His image. You are made in the image of God Himself. You that lies lowly and broken is in fact a king or queen, begin to see yourself the way Christ sees you.

Colossians 1 vs 9-11

New International Version (NIV)

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,

This scripture shows us that it is necessary for us to know the will of God in our lives, his plans for us the future we have stored in Him. Not just to know it, but to have spiritual understanding of its significance and its power. Once we come to the true knowledge of God’s will, we will then be strengthened in our sufferings, in our pain, in our hurt. The is because our eyes will be set on His will and the hope we have stored in it.

Colossians 1 vs 9-11

New International Version (NIV)

16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

This brings us to the understanding the God clearly controls all things whether good or seemingly bad. So whether it is sufferings or blessings He controls them both. Why is this important to know? Because through this knowledge and also the knowledge of His will & love for us, we are able to endure the many trials of this life knowing they are not in vein and neither are without reward.

The condition of man means this world quite frankly is messed up, but understand God fights for us, so much so Christ died for us. He loves you and I, building us up so we can stand.

In conclusion never give up and if you feel like giving up turn to God with hope. When you feel like there is no way out, ask Him for strength & ask Him to reveal His plans for you so you may endure.

I send this message with love, enter this new year with hope and let Christ reveal the you He sees beyond the capacity of your imagination. He truly is a wonderful & faithful God who will never give up on you, just know that.

Until next time, all my love and God bless & keep you.
